Is Silent Hill Creator Making A Horror Game?
Silent Hill creator Keiichiro Toyama has announced plans to make another game in the psychological horror genre.
In a question-and-answer session about his new studio, Bokeh Game, Kichiro Tomoya announced that he hopes to develop another game similar to Silent Hill in the future. However, he currently has the ability to build a more action-oriented game and wants Slitterhead to focus on that.
I want to work with classic psychological horror themes like Silent Hill in the future. However, I prefer to do this when I have really limited resources such as a small budget or manpower. We now have members who have the ability to work on action games. I want to use their skills to go the other way. However, I plan to make a more personal game for myself in the future.
Slitterhead is full of action and fight scenes, and according to IGN , Kichiro Tomoya has turned to surreal horror this time.
I wanted a game that you could enjoy the action of, but it was not just about killing enemies. The fear aspect is in conflict with the mind and makes the players reluctant to enter the fights. I want to be successful with this game in terms of both action and drama.
Two years ago, Kichiro Toyama, along with Junia Okura (chief designer of the Gravity Rush series) and Kazun Obo Sato (chief designer of the Puppeteer game), left the company after two decades at Sony to establish a new Bokeh Game studio. The studio quickly began work on the Slitterhead game and unveiled it at the 2021 Game Awards . According to Toyama, this game will be very different from Silent Hill.
